| Craig started showing sheep in 1972 at the Robertson County Fair in Hearne Texas. He showed for 6 years
and winning Grand Champion Lamb in 1978. He put his sheep years behind him or so he thought. Craig graduated
from Sam Houston State University in 1986 with a degree in Agricultural Education. He became an Agricultural
Teacher at Hearne ISD in 1997 after teaching Junior High math for 8 years.
Holly started showing sheep in 1977. Through the generosity of Mr. Charlie Miller, Hearne TX, she was
given back her show lamb each year after making the sale at the Robertson County Fair. This enabled her
to start her own flock. She kept this flock of sheep until 1990 when predation from neighbor's dogs caused
her to disperse her flock.

In 1998 while looking for does for the new goat flock, Holly found a show ewe lamb that she purchased.
The new Extension Agent for Milam County, Dusty Tittle, was a sheep enthusiast who wanted to get his first
sheep flock, so Holly talked him (looking for any excuse to have show sheep again) into letting her manage
his flock if he got into the show lamb business. Sure enough, he showed up with a trailer load of ewe lambs
from Wise Club Lambs, as he unloaded the lambs, he informed her that 5 of the ewes were hers! Craig thought
this was a good pre-planned set up, since he was against the sheep venture, he finally relented and we
finalized the purchase of the 5 ewes. Tittle Club Lambs moved to their new home in Caldwell in 2003 but
we still share use of rams. C & H Livestock also is in partnership with Glasscock
Club Lambs with
two rams. One of the rams is out of Dinero and a Venom ewe. The other is out of Deal Breaker and a Venom
ewe. Both rams are NNRR. The flocks of Joe Harrell, Barton Club Lambs, Vinyard Club Lambs, KNC and Glasscock
Club Lambs mostly influence our ewe flock.
The rams that influence our flock are Dinero, Venom, Dealbreaker,
Caesar, Houston, Wise 77, Chi-Ching, Goose, Maverick, Loco, Pistol Pete, and Mafia. We usually purchase
ewe lambs to show in market classes at our county fairs so that we can return them to the flock; this
allows us to sell most of the wether lambs. The other plus is that there is a show record for a lot of
our ewes. Craig is the Ag Teacher at Hearne ISD, which is in Robertson County but he does not sell our
lambs to his students to avoid any conflict of interest. We usually only keep 45 ewes year round. We
are proud of the success of our lambs and hope to continue to improve in future years. |
